The Karnataka authorities on Thursday withdrew its night time curfew order simply hours earlier than it was scheduled to be carried out, citing the general public outcry that erupted after the curfew was introduced on Wednesday.
In an announcement, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa stated, “The night time curfew had been introduced to curtail the unfold of the brand new coronavirus strain after getting advice from experts. After getting feedback from the public, the issue was re-examined, and in consultation with cabinet colleagues and senior officials, the decision has been withdrawn.”
Yediyurappa requested the general public to proceed to put on masks, working towards good hygiene and keep social distancing to forestall the unfold of the coronavirus .
The determination to impose night time curfew for 9 days from 11 pm to five am ranging from Thursday was taken on Wednesday, reportedly “in line with the Centre’s advice”.
The transfer comes amid issues over a brand new COVID-19 variant spreading within the UK.
The withdrawal of the curfew order marked a “second U-turn in three days” by the Yediyurappa authorities, an NDTV report noted.
“On Tuesday Yediyurappa said “there is no such thing as a want” and on Wednesday he said it would be imposed “in view of the brand new pressure”,” the report stated.
